Submission FAQs

WHY CHARGE A SUBMISSION FEE AT ALL? THAT DOESN’T SEEM FAIR.
Submission fees suck, but they help keep little festivals like ours going. Submission fees are put towards advertising and marketing, merchandising, paying the headliners, cash prizes in a few competitions, providing quality PPE for volunteers and staff, temperature checks and effective sanitation methods…all to keep everyone safe and healthy.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO SUBMIT TO THE FESTIVAL?
Submission fees are $20 for the duration of the submission period (January 1st, 2023-March 31st, 2023).


WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN A VIDEO?
There are two very important aspects of your video submission: we have to be able to SEE you, and we have to be able to HEAR you. It’s not necessary for your video to be shot in 4K or with expensive sound equipment; a simple phone recording will work just fine. Please be sure to record your video horizontally; keeping the camera steady and with you in focus. Our panel of judges will watch five (5) but no more than seven (7) minutes of your submission video. Submission videos with inactive, broken, or expired links will be ineligible. Submissions with videos marked to private will be ineligible. “Best of” or “Highlight” reels will NOT be accepted.


WILL THERE BE LODGING ACCOMODATIONS FOR SELECTED PERFORMERS?
Comics selected to perform in the festival can either choose personal lodging accommodations on their own, or accept discounted lodging at a pre-determined, Cleveland-area venue. There are many affordable hotels available within NE Ohio, and we encourage you to take advantage of any deals they have to offer.


CAN I SUBMIT MORE THAN ONE VIDEO?
You are more than welcome to submit another video; however, performers must complete a NEW submission form and pay a new submission fee to be submitted to our judges.


WHEN ARE THE SUBMISSION DEADLINES?
Submissions are open from 12:00am EST on Sunday, January 1st, 2023 and run until 11:59pm EST on Friday, March 31st, 2023. We are currently accepting submissions for standup ONLY. Comics will be notified of their acceptance into The Festival on Sunday, May 28th, 2023. Comics selected for The Festival must verify their acceptance by Saturday, June 10th, 2023. The Festival lineup will be announced on our website on Monday, June 12th, 2023.
